The HISTORY and MISSION

Since 2021, The Community Campus has been a nonprofit children’s program focused on place-based education, running 48 weeks a year, with the intent that every kid can have the opportunity for after-school care. Originally founded in 2020 during the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic as an away-from-home learning center, in the past five years, TCC has had exponential growth. Originally starting with only two staff members and supporting a maximum of 10 kids, we now have 8 employees—including both full-time staff and part-time TAs(teacher’s assistants) -to provide a spot for as many kids as we can, most days reaching our maximum of 39 kids. With an age range of 5-12, we support both younger and older children in developing life skills, enhancing their creative and artistic abilities, and fostering connections with their teachers and peers, while learning the values of our core concepts: responsibility, honesty, and respect.

Although the program only goes up to age twelve, we also offer opportunities for teens, having provided 5 part-time jobs to youth aged 16 and up, and volunteer work for youth who want work experience. While we offer an after-school program during the school year, we also run a full-day, 8-week-long summer program, and monthly Saturday night-themed events. Overall, The Community Campus works to keep providing opportunities for kids of all backgrounds, families, and financial situations, maintaining a safe space for connection and education for everyone.
