Dive into Summer Camp!

Dive into Summer Camp!

Now that it’s getting warmer, we’re nearing summer camp! Our camp runs week-by-week, from late June into late August, almost continuously, excluding weekends.

Registration is open on our website, with early registration having opened in February, and regular registration starting May 1st. A standard camp day goes from 8 am to 4 pm, but we also offer aftercare (preregistered) from 4 pm to 5 pm. Summer Camp runs for 8- 9 weeks, each week following a unique theme. For example, week three is “Summit Seekers”, our big hiking week, where we take on a well-sized hike every day. Additionally, our campus is located at the base of a National Park Service trail system, and since the summer of 2025, we’ve partnered with the National Park Service as volunteer trail stewards. During the summer, we spend a lot of time exploring the forest and learning about critters, visiting wilderness sanctuaries… and each summer we have a lot of new themes to enjoy for returning campers! Our themes also include crafts and other activities besides outdoor roaming. For our intergalactic theme, the kids designed their own spaceships and another week, they built fairy houses in the woods near our facility.

With a myriad of themes on the schedule, it’s hardly boring and extremely diverse in opportunities for what the kids can do. Exclusive to Summer Camp, we have many field trips, at least one per week. A favorite of mine is rock climbing at Green Mountain Rock Climbing. All our staff get certified to belay, and the gym is very welcoming to kids. Every time we visit, the campers do great on the climbing walls, whether it be bouldering, using the ropes, or trying the auto belays. Other field trips we’ve done include going to the polar ice caves in New Hampshire, which get narrower and narrower as we venture further. During hiking week, we hike Mt. Tom through the connecting Billings Trails that run through town, among others. We’ve gone to wildlife/insect sanctuaries, the Ben and Jerry’s factory (where we got to taste an unreleased flavor), and last year, we sat down with our popcorn and watched the new Smurfs movie. All of these trips are equally exciting, but a favorite for the kids and most of us, when it gets blazingly hot, is our water days. Some days are sweltering, and we have to bring out the popsicles, water guns, run through the sprinklers, fill up our kiddie pools, and take advantage of our slip-n-slide. Another highlight is our baking week, during which the kids made cupcakes, cookies, and even upside-down pineapple cake, and of course our carnival week, spent playing our own made- up games, with a bit of friendly competition and a lot of team-building. Each camp season holds many opportunities for core memories to be created and the TCC team looks forward to it each year!
